Western Union (11/13/85) to: Eduard Shevardnadze
Foreign Minister
Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics
Embassies at United Nations,  New York City,  New York; Washington, D.C.

Minister Shevardnadze,
My name is,  …. …..  ….  .    I am on an island in ……….. presently under the United  States of America’s occupation and claimed jurisdiction. This island is …….  and I am surviving along its shore.

From ……, …… mostly, during the past five years I have made attempts to contact governmental representatives of your peoples.   Prior to this letter I have not sought direct response from anyone of the Soviet Union, merely contact under the phobic watch of Capital in the aegis of the United States’ government of Washington, D.C. — both on an unsound, moral, global defensive.

In thirty-five years as a human, a citizen, a voter and a candidate for states’ ( ….. and …… ) and federal elective offices in the past four consecutive national elections, I have experienced democracy as practiced in the United States.   IF “democracy”  is an accurate term for the reality of the United States’ elective processes  then it must be qualified as democracy by group capital in contrast to democracy by informed, individual reason.   The perpetuation by the United States’ government of this malignant perversion of democracy is inherent  to the continued exploitation of the fundamental goodwill of humankind. A serious and viable candidate for public office I challenged this perversion, over and over:  throughout ( except initially in ….. ), the malignancy simply congealed, becoming more steadfast than ever.

The oppression one sustains living in this political/economic system for which the United States’ government/military and increasing members of its allies are prepared to sacrifice life on Earth in a last attempt to validate these systems’ failed ideologies I shall not here attempt to relate at great length.

I love these lands and peoples with whom I share the enervating burden of government by deceit; however, this love cannot flourish nor can it sustain my spirit and intellect. By right of my past endeavors toward public duties for which I vigorously prepared and legally sought I cannot still give credence to a proposition that the United States of America’s democracy is what those who lead and support that organization claim it–’The’ democracy– is. It is not open or fair. It does serve the interests of few to the exclusion, deprivation, intimidation, and righteous elimination of many: President Ronald Reagan et al.  Pan-American activities remorsefully exemplifying the latter consequence.

My intent herein is more than a message.   It is also the  following long deliberated decision/request and long desirably sound  alternative to myopic, deceitful oppression:

Through yourself Minister Shevardnadze, I,  …. …. ….., do herby appeal to Mikhail Gorbachev and your fellow countrymen of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics that I be granted political asylum within the CCCP under Chapter X, Article 129, of the Constitution of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.   Asylum wherein I may be free to labor, to share scientific inquiries, and to live within a viable, evolving example of human government which the United States is not.

Thank you very much for what you and your countrymen are doing for mankind– presenting to the United States a reasoned alternative to the course it is being led.    I give you my hopes that your country’s stated resolves are upheld and endorsed by the world’s  peoples, and that for the betterment of life on Earth that the United States’ government is peacefully dissolved, its peoples helped to evolve toward an unarmed, united, equalitarian humanity.

Resolutely yours,  … … …
